Facebook Accessed Messenger App Chats Through Outsourced Staff

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Facebook has paid hundreds of outsourced workers to transcribe audio chat clips from Messenger users, Bloomberg reported.

Facebook has already confirmed the action but pointed out that this practice is now complete.

According to the report, the staff became suspicious when the origin of the records was not clarified. The outsourced staff would retranscribe the conversations to understand whether the artificial intelligence tool was correctly interpreting the messages.

The company states that this practice only involved users who had chosen to have their voice calls transcribed.

Facebook has already confirmed the action but pointed out that this practice is now complete: “Just like Apple and Google, we stopped the human audio review over a week ago,” announces the same report.

Apple has also confirmed this month that it will no longer be listening to conversations from iPhone users and that the German authorities have forced Google to suspend the practice of analyzing the commands/conversions held through the digital assistant.
