Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua aim to enhance defense and oil collaboration with Iran

The administrations of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua are keen to bolster agreements on defense and oil amid Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s tour, aimed at countering ‘unlawful’ US sanctions, as per global analyst Basem Tajeldine’s statement to Sputnik.

Tajeldine explained, “Venezuela is specifically interested in the oil sector, where Iran has proven its capability. With Iran’s collaboration, we’ve witnessed the resurgence of the Venezuelan oil industry.”

“In terms of defense, Iran’s deep-rooted expertise is invaluable. Similar issues regarding oil and defense will be the focus in Cuba and Nicaragua,” elaborating on the areas where pacts with Tehran would be pursued.

The former advisor to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry highlighted that Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela are nations striving to mitigate the adverse impacts of the US-imposed sanctions.

Tajeldine pointed out that Raisi’s Latin American tour includes countries that have faced sanctions from the US, referred to as the “global police,” for challenging its “dominance”. They are pursuing mutual relationships to counter this “unlawful embargo”.

“Increasing numbers of countries worldwide are victims of US sanctions, and more and more of them are seeking mutual relationships to resist these imperial assaults,” he stated.

The expert noted that Iran has successfully confronted US sanctions, yielding a quite effective foreign policy.

The US has expressed fear of its defense policy. He underscored that this relationship (between Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Iran) “extends far beyond what the US anticipated, who aimed to strangle our nations.”

He asserted that this tour is occurring amidst an “accelerating downfall of US dominance,” given the “defeat in the war catastrophe that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is experiencing in Ukraine”.

He expressed that this tour by the Iranian president would provoke the US, but added that Washington has no further measures to implement.

“As arrogant and domineering as ever, the US has exhausted all its options, even attempted coups against Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.”

“It has always perceived Latin America as its backyard.”

“It would indeed feel greatly infuriated by the presence of a leader like Raisi who is addressing a highly sensitive issue for our nations. But, it has exhausted all its options and failed,” he pointed out.

The Iranian news agency, IRNA, mentioned that Ebrahim Raisi’s visit is per the official invitation from his Venezuelan, Cuban, and Nicaraguan counterparts.
