Moving average of Covid deaths in Brazil drops to 1,082 (July 28)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Wednesday (28), Brazil recorded a daily moving average of 1,082 deaths, lower than on Tuesday when the figure was 1,093. In comparison with 14 days ago, there was a variation of -13.5%, indicating stabilization in the number of deaths.

In the last 24 hours, there were 1,344 deaths and 48,013 new infected people registered all over the country. The data are from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

In total, Brazil has already lost 553,179 lives to the disease and computed 19,797,086 cases of contamination.

Due to the incubation time of the new coronavirus, specialists have adopted the recommendation that the moving average of the day is compared to two weeks ago.

Variations in the number of deaths or cases of up to 15%, up or down, are not significant in relation to the evolution of the pandemic. On the other hand, percentages above or below should be seen as an increase or decrease tendency.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks fifth in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Colombia, Paraguay, Cuba, and Argentina.

In terms of total deaths per million, Brazil ranks among the ten most affected nations, such as Peru, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Colombia, Argentina, Italy, Belgium, and other European countries.

The country has seen a reduction in pandemic numbers in recent weeks.
