Covid-19: Brazil registers 24,611 new cases and 648 deaths (September 23)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil on Thursday reported 648 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 592,964, the Health Ministry said.

There were also 24,611 new coronavirus cases, with the total number of infections in the country advancing to 21,308,178, the folder added.

The federal government still reports 395,694 Covid-19 patients in follow-up.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks eight in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, and Argentina. Worldwide, it ranks 37th.
