Brazil records 49,757 new cases and 1,412 Covid deaths (July 22)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil on Thursday reported 1,412 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 547,016, the Health Ministry said.

There were also 49,757 new coronavirus cases, with the total number of infections in the country advancing to 19,523,711, the folder added.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks fourth in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Colombia, Paraguay, and Argentina.

In terms of total deaths per million, Brazil ranks among the ten most affected nations, such as Peru, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Colombia, Argentina, Italy, Belgium, and other European countries.

The country has seen a reduction in pandemic numbers in recent weeks.

In a bulletin published on Thursday, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) highlighted that the downward trend in Covid-19 incidence and mortality indicators and ICU bed occupancy rates for treatment of the disease over the past two epidemiological weeks had been ratified.
