RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Following Jair Bolsonaro’s disclosure that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus, entrepreneurs who recently met with the President took precautionary measures against the disease.
On Friday, July 3rd, a group of entrepreneurs led by the president of FIESP, the Federation of Industries of São Paulo, had lunch with Bolsonaro at the Alvorada Palace. The agenda included lending measures for the economic rebound.
Among the guests were business leaders such as Rubens Ometto, from the sugar-alcohol giant Cosan; Rubens Menin, from construction company MRV; Luiz Carlos Trabuco, from Bradesco bank; Candido Pinheiro, from the HapVida healthcare company; Fernando Queiroz, from the Minerva Foods meatpacking company; Carlos Alberto Oliveira, from the CAOA auto manufacturer; Eugênio Mattar, from the Localiza car rental; Francisco Gomes, from aircraft manufacturer EMBRAER; and Lorival Nogueira, from food company BRF.
Yesterday, following Bolsonaro’s positive diagnostic, the FIESP president, Paulo Skaf, said he was “feeling well”. He is in quarantine at home, “where he will remain until he gets the result of a molecular exam to be done between Thursday and Friday”, according to a note sent by the FIESP press staff.
Menin, founder of MRV construction company, said he took the test yesterday after Bolsonaro’s announcement. The result was negative for the novel coronavirus.
Cândido Pinheiro, from the Hapvida healthcare company, said he had been infected right at the start of the pandemic. In a statement, he said he had been quarantined at the time and had no symptoms. The entrepreneur said he was attentive to health safety issues. “He constantly washes his hands or uses sanitizer gel. When he gets home, he always sanitizes with great care to ensure the safety of his family. Candido is well, with no flu symptoms,” according to Hapvida’s press office.
