RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the Federal Gazette published on Monday, September 16th, Brazil and Bolivia will strengthen joint actions to combat drug trafficking in the border region, according to the agreement signed in 1996.
Among other measures, the two countries will implement the strengthening of the operational capacity of the Bolivian Police and the Brazilian Federal Highway Police in their activities to inspect the highways, provide adequate facilities and infrastructure for the execution of technical cooperation activities, and exchange information necessary for the execution of the project.
According to the document, the resources for the execution of the project may come from “public and private institutions, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, technical cooperation agencies, funds and regional and international programs, which should be provided for in legal instruments other than the present complementary adjustment”.
