Bolsonarist Bots Drop on Twitter After Federal Police Operation

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to a survey by AP Exata, the posts of so-called interference profiles dropped from an average of 14 to ten percent on Twitter. They had peaked at 17 percent.

The STF’s action seems to have impacted the information diffusion system artificially performed through these profiles.

The Federal Police’s search and seizure of suspects for spreading fake news and threats against STF justices have caused the action of robots and rented profiles linked to Bolsonarism to plummet on social media. (Photo: Internet Reproduction)

On the other hand, the STF’s offensive mobilized influencers in the Bolsonarist base, such as deputies and even the President’s sons. They began to operate in a more powerful and organized way in the networks, unifying the discourse against Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who heads the fake news inquiry and ordered the searches.

The highlight was a live broadcast on YouTube on Wednesday, May 27th, which featured Bolsonarist celebrities such as Olavo de Carvalho and Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, the president’s son.

However, Bolsonaro continued to get more negative than positive mentions on Twitter – 53 to 47 percent.

AP Exata considers that if interference profiles would effectively be removed, Bolsonarists would have less power to impose their narratives on social media.
