The renowned publication emphasized Pabllo’s success as an artist and her political activism. TIME emphasized that the image and success of the drag queen is crucial in view of the high rates of violence against the LGBT population in Brazil and against women.

“In Brazil, being an LGBT performer is like killing a lion every day, every day you have to prove yourself and show it to other people,” said Pabllo, urging young people to believe in their dreams and potential.

According to the publication, Pabllo used her popularity to celebrate her identity and criticize the spread of homophobia, where she quotes President Jair Bolsonaro for his statement that “I would rather have my son die in a car accident than be gay”.
