Bolivia-China Trade Hits Record High in 2023

In 2023, Bolivia’s trade with China hit a record high, reaching $3.6 billion, according to the Bolivian Institute for Foreign Trade (IBCE).

This remarkable growth underscores the deepening economic ties between the two nations over recent years.

Drawing on official data from Bolivia’s National Institute of Statistics (INE), the IBCE revealed that Bolivia’s primary exports to China included minerals and meat.

Notably, the exported minerals comprised silver, zinc, lead, tin, copper, antimony, and various concentrates.

The meat industry has seen significant growth, particularly since China opened its market to Bolivian meat in 2019.

This move has afforded Bolivian producers access to a vast and highly demanding market.

In total, Bolivia exported 59 different products to China, including sawn wood, highlighting the diverse nature of its export portfolio.

China stands as one of Bolivia’s key trading partners. This is further evidenced by Bolivia’s imports from China in 2023, which amounted to $2.415 billion.

The range of imports is extensive, encompassing over 500 different products.

Key imports include vehicles, tires, ovens, motorcycles, and herbicides, illustrating the wide array of goods traded between the two countries.
