In addition to visiting Brazil during his Latin American tour, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pass through Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua, three leftist dictatorships.

“We advocate strengthening Russian-Latin American cooperation based on mutual support, solidarity, and taking into account each other’s interests,” Lavrov wrote in an article published by the Mexican magazine Buzos de la Noticia on Thursday (13).

In the text, Lavrov commented on the strategic relationship with Brasília, Caracas, Havana, and Managua.

“The rapidly changing geopolitical landscape opens up new possibilities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and the countries of Latin America.”

“The latter play an increasingly prominent role in the multipolar world,” the Russian said in the text.

Lavrov further claimed in the text that Russia does not want Latin America and the Caribbean to become a space of antagonism between powers.

The Russian Foreign Minister arrived in Brazil on Monday (17) to meet with members of the Lula government.
