Bolsonaro plans a trip to Europe, says Portuguese newspaper

Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is planning a trip to Europe.

This is what the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã said this Wednesday (22).

According to the outlet, the former president will visit Spain and Italy and discusses participation in a right-wing parties event in Lisbon.

The idea of the event would have come from Bolsonaro’s advisors, who last week contacted the leader of the Portuguese right-wing party “Chega”.

Other names rumored to participate in the ceremony are the French Marine Le Pen and the Spanish Santiago Abascal.

Before going to Europe, Bolsonaro should return to Brazil at the end of March, according to Fábio Wajngarten, former executive secretary of the Ministry of Communications and advisor to the former president, told Poder360.

He did not confirm, however, that he would go to Europe.

Although he has disclosed the date of return to the country, Bolsonaro was announced as a speaker at a seminar in the United States on environment and sustainability organized by the environmental consulting firm Geoflorestas.

The event will occur one day after the return date (March 29), announced by Bolsonaro himself in a meeting with business people on Wednesday (March 15).

The former Chief Executive has been in the United States for two months.

Bolsonaro is expected to stay until April 15 in the United States.

This is because the Casa Civil published an ordinance on Tuesday (March 2) authorizing three officials to assist the politician in events in Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida, from March 28 28 to April 15.

BOLSONARO IN THE USA

Bolsonaro left Brazil 2 days before leaving office as president of the Republic.

In an interview with the American Wall Street Journal, he said he would return to the country in March to lead the opposition against the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

The former president has already participated in several events in the US.

The last one was a meeting with business people in Orlando.

On that occasion, he said that the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) can make him ineligible for the 2026 election due to the case of the meeting with ambassadors in which he criticized the electronic ballot box in 2022.

“Unfortunately, in some cases in Brazil, you don’t need to be guilty to be convicted. So there is this possibility of ineligibility, yes. The question of prison only if it is arbitrary,” he declared.

When talking about his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, the former president said he met the former first lady’s “political vein” during the Liberal Party convention last year. However, he denied that Michelle would run for president in 2026.
