Check out the history of Bolsonaro’s surgeries since the 2018 attack:

  • Stabbing and 1st surgery: On September 6, 2018, the day of the attack, Bolsonaro underwent emergency surgery to contain internal bleeding and the placement of a colostomy bag;
  • 2nd surgery: On September 12th of the same year he underwent another surgery to correct small bowel obstruction;
  • 3rd surgery, already elected: On January 28, 2019, Bolsonaro performed surgery to remove the colostomy bag;
  • 4th surgery: On September 8, 2019, he had to undergo surgery to correct a hernia caused by inadequate healing of the abdominal wall;
  • 5th surgery, vasectomy: On January 30, the President reportedly underwent a vasectomy, a surgery that was not confirmed by the Planalto Palace;
  • 6th surgery: On September 25, 2020, the president underwent a new procedure, this time to remove a bladder stone, unrelated to the knife attack.

The former president left the country on December 30, when he traveled to Florida. Hours before leaving, Bolsonaro made, through live on social networks, his last pronouncement as President of the Republic.

He cried when he stated that Brazil “will not end on January 1st” and that the inauguration of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will not be “the end of the world”.
