Brazil appellate court authorizes reopening of investigation into 2018 knife attack against Bolsonaro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Federal Appellate Court (TRF-1) on Wednesday rejected an appeal to prevent the restart of investigations, instead authorizing the Federal Police to try to establish whether waiter Adelio Bispo de Oliveira acted under third party instructions when he stabbed the far-right candidate for Brazil's presidency.

Adelio Bispo has been detained since September 6, 2018, when he stabbed the current head of state while participating in an election rally in the city of Juiz de Fora.
