Brazilian Federal Police concludes that Bolsonaro committed incitement to crime by associating vaccination to HIV virus

The Federal Police of Brazil determined that President Jair Bolsonaro committed incitement to crime when he associated the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) with the new coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19).

The Federal Police finalized this Wednesday the report on investigations against the conduct of President Bolsonaro during the pandemic, when he associated in a transmission on social networks in October 2021 HIV to COVID and also claimed that most of the victims of the flu died from pneumonia caused by the use of mask.

In its report, the Federal Police concluded that both claims were false, so it accused the current president of incitement to crime by discouraging the use of masks and vaccination in the country.

Bolsonaro was summoned to testify as part of the investigations in early December.

However, he did not respond to the deadline offered by the Federal Police, and the agents understood that the president chose to remain silent.

The Federal Police document was delivered to the president of the Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, who must forward it to the Prosecutor General’s Office, which will decide whether to file the case or denounce Bolsonaro.

If the complaint is accepted, Bolsonaro, who will lose the privileged forum on Jan. 1, when he leaves the Presidency, faces a possible sentence of between three and six months in prison for unlawful conduct.
