STF Justice Alexandre de Moraes orders more than 100 operations against supporters of Jair Bolsonaro

The judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the Federal Police to carry out more than one hundred operations in relation to the mobilizations called by the followers of the still president Jair Bolsonaro to protest his defeat in the last elections.

The operations have been carried out in eight states, with Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina being those in which the most devices of this type have been deployed. De Moraes has issued four arrest warrants, of which two have been enforced, freezing assets and breaking bank secrecy.

During the operation, two well-known congressmen related to Bolsonaro have been detained, such as the soldier on the reserve Lucinio Castelo de Assumção, known as ‘Capitão Assumção‘, and Carlos Von, both in Espírito Santo.

At the moment they are not going to prison, but an electronic anklet has been placed on them and their passports have been withdrawn. De Assumção has shown himself to be the more radical of the two, with constant attacks on the Brazilian electoral system and the Supreme Court judges, whom he accuses of seeking to stage a coup.

“The Police have gone there and took my computer,” confirmed Von, who has denied having participated in “anti-democratic demonstrations” or having spoken out against the validity of the election results.

For his part, De Assumção has assured that the operation ordered by De Moraes against him only has a “political” purpose to “embarrass him” in front of public opinion, since in his opinion “there are no minimal indications” of his participation in these acts. nor in the attacks on the Supreme Court.
