Brazil’s vice-president-elect Geraldo Alckmin will assume the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Commerce, according to sources heard by Valor.
The announcement should be made tomorrow by the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, together with the other names.
Alckmin will accumulate the duties of vice president.
This is because his functions as vice president are said to be in “full harmony” with those of the MDIC.
The evaluation is that the elected vice president is “well in tune” with the objectives of the new industrial policy devised by future president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
In addition, he is in “fine-tuning” with the future president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) Aloizio Mercadante.
In parallel, Alckmin will preside over the bilateral high-level consultation commissions with China, Russia, and Nigeria, together with his counterparts. The collegiate bodies are the main instances of coordinating the bilateral relationship between these three countries.
