Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Bolivia release a note in defense of Castillo

The governments of Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Bolivia released a statement this Monday, the 12th, in which they position themselves in a favorable way to protect the former president of Peru, Pedro Castillo.

In the document, the representatives ask for protection from the impeached politician after his frustrated attempt to dissolve the National Congress and install an exceptional government.

“We urge the institutions to refrain from reversing the popular will expressed through the free popular vote. Castillo, since the day of his election, has been the victim of harassment that violates the American Convention on Human Rights,” says the text, released by the Chancellery of Bogotá representing countries governed by leftist leaders.
