Metro de Medellín to manage metro operations in Quito

The Quito Metro Corporation on Monday invited the French-Colombian company Metro de Medellín-Transdev to continue negotiations for the operation of the new transport system, which is scheduled to begin this year.

The consortium formed by the two companies has submitted a bid worth US$129.9 million to operate the Quito Metro for six years, according to the digital portal Primicias.

The Quito Metro will run 22.6 km from one end of the city to the other, stopping at 15 stations.

The contract is expected to be awarded in the first week of October, and the Quito Metro is expected to be operational in December.
