At least two dead and a dozen injured in plane crash with parachutists in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – At least two dead and a dozen injured in the crash of a plane with parachutists in the rural area of Boituva. Among the survivors were at least two Chileans, which has not been confirmed by officials.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but witnesses quoted by the Brazilian press G1 indicate that it may have been an electrical malfunction in the Cessna 208 Supervan 900.

Municipal sources cited by CNN Brazil put the number of people on board at 16, 11 of whom required treatment.

Two of those people suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest, from which they died, according to the Brazilian press.

According to the local fire department, the plane crashed into a high-voltage pylon before crashing into a pasture, where fuel leaked but no fire broke out.
