RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A building collapsed in the town of Vila Velha, in Greater Victoria, Espirito Santo. According to the military fire department, there were three deaths in the accident last night (21). One person was injured.
Firefighters and city authorities began searching for victims at the site shortly after the collapse. The search lasted throughout the night and ended at dawn today (22nd) when the victims were found.
The first was a woman who was captured alive. She told firefighters that there were three other people in the collapsed building. One of the victims, a teenager, was still alive when rescuers tried to pull her from the rubble. But she, too, offered no resistance and died.
Another woman and a 70-year-old man were also found by rescue teams, both without life. The city government and fire department have not yet released information about the possible causes of the collapse. The names of the victims have also not been released.
