Italian airline Neos seeks approval to operate scheduled flights to Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Italian airline Neos seems intent on increasing its presence in Brazil by starting to operate scheduled flights. The company applied last week, pending approval at the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Today, the company only makes non-scheduled flights to Brazil, bringing various cargoes from Europe and taking fruit back.

With ANAC’s authorization, the company would be able to request flights formally. There are still no details about intended routes, frequencies, and nature of the operation (passengers or cargo).

Throughout the pandemic, the airline has made a series of charter flights to Guarulhos (São Paulo), departing from Milan, always with Boeing 787-9 passenger planes, adapted for cargo.

Neos' current fleet consists of six Boeing 737-800s, four Boeing 737 MAX 8s, and six Boeing 787-9s.

Neos was born in June 2001 and obtained the Air Carrier Certificate on March 7, 2002, from the Italian National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC). Its operation comprises scheduled and charter flights, mainly to popular vacation destinations in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
