RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The city of São Paulo on Monday, January 17, will resume its vehicle rotation system. The restriction is only in force from Monday through Friday, except for holidays.
According to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET), the vehicle rotation system was suspended between December 20, 2021 and January 14, 2022, a period when the capital is emptier due to school vacations and year-end festivities.
During the rotation system, vehicles are not allowed to travel in the Expanded Center, including the roads bordering the so-called Minianel Viário, comprising the Tietê and Pinheiros expressways, Bandeirantes and Afonso D’Escragnolle Taunay avenues, the Maria Maluf Viaduct Complex, Tancredo Neves and Juntas Provisórias avenues, the Greater São Paulo Viaduct, and Professor Luís Inácio de Anhaia Melo and Salim Farah Maluf avenues.
“Driving at locations and times not authorized by the regulations set forth in the Brazilian Traffic Code implies a moderate traffic violation, resulting in a fine of R$130.16 (US$23.52) and an increase of 4 (four) points in the driver’s record,” the City Hall reports.
