Covid-19: Brazil records 20,528 new cases and 677 deaths (October 5)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil on Tuesday (5) reported 677 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 598,829, the Health Ministry said.

There were also 20,528 new coronavirus cases, with the total of confirmed infections in the country advancing to 21,499,074, the folder added.

The federal government still reports 411,460 Covid-19 patients in follow-up.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks eight in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Honduras. Worldwide, it ranks 39th.
