Sales of new residential properties in Brazil up by 30% in first half of 2021 – survey

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Sales of new residential properties in the first half of this year have increased by 31.37% compared to the first six months of last year. The data comes from research conducted by Senior Systems, a company that provides business management solutions.

The increase in the first half of the year also led to growth in the total sales value, which increased by 57% on the same comparison basis.

The square meter of new real estate has become more expensive in the past year. According to the survey, the length of new units sold had observed an increase of 14.32% in price in the first half of this year, compared to the same period in 2020.

According to Senior Systems, the survey considered different standards of real estate developments, from popular homes of the Casa Verde e Amarela program (formerly Minha Casa Minha Vida program) to properties with high standards.

At least two reasons have led to the warming of the sector. The first is the natural recovery of the economy after more than a year in which free movement was restricted due to the Covid 19 pandemic and progress in vaccination. The second reason is the increase in the cost of raw materials for construction.
