Brazil records 27,592 new cases and 1,424 Covid deaths (July 20)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil on Tuesday reported 1,424 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 544,180, the Health Ministry said.

There were also 27,592 new cases of coronavirus, with the total number of infections in the country advancing to 19,419,437, the folder added.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks fourth in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Colombia, Paraguay, and Argentina.

In terms of total deaths per million, Brazil ranks among the ten most affected nations, such as Peru, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Colombia, Argentina, Italy, Belgium, and other European countries.

The country has recorded a reduction in pandemic numbers in recent weeks and has recorded yesterday the lowest number of deaths and covid-19 cases since November 2020.

The federal government reports 18,124,621 people recovered from Covid-19 and 750,636 patients in follow-up.
