RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) expected to deliver 3 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 to the National Immunization Program (PNI) on Wednesday, June 30. Originally, this shipment was to be delivered Friday, July 2.
According to Fiocruz, the advance delivery was possible due to the approval of lots by quality control, which occurred earlier this week. About 148,000 ampoules will remain in Rio de Janeiro.
This brings the Foundation’s total deliveries to 65.9 million doses, including 4 million vaccines imported from the Serum Institute, India. In June, more than 18 million vaccine doses were delivered.
Fiocruz now has enough active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to enable weekly deliveries of the vaccine through July 23.
