Moreover, year-to-date, foreign sales totaled US$1.345 billion, almost 15% higher than what was exported in the first two months of 2020.

The hike is explained by the increase in exports of meat by-products, wheat, dairy products, wood, cellulose, margarine and oils, as well as other foodstuffs and vehicles, according to the report published on Monday.

Wheat sales reached US$21 million, more than double the figure exported in February 2020. This significant increase is due to higher sales to Brazil.

Meat by-products exports grew by 76% year-on-year, reaching US$35 million, due to an increase in purchases from China, Spain and Hong Kong.

China remains the main export destination, followed by Brazil and the European Union.

Meanwhile, rice, fish and seafood products, energy and beverage concentrates posted a negative impact in the month.
