Brazil is Country With Most International Emmy Nominations in 2020

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The list of nominees for the 2020 International Emmy awards was released on Thursday, September 24th. In all, 44 television shows from 20 countries were nominated. The selected shows were screened from January 1st to December 31st. 2019. Brazil is listed in seven categories, second only to the United Kingdom.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony staged in New York City on November 23rd. The event’s organization promises to disclose more information in October.

“Congratulations to all nominees. We are very proud to recognize and honor the best storytellers, producers, and performers in the world,” said Bruce L. Paisner, president of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. “At a time of crisis when most of us need to stay home most of the time, television entertains us and provides a window to our world”.

The nominees are from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Below is the complete list of Brazilian nominees to the award.

  • The documentary “Refavela 40”, by Mini Kerti, competes in the category of best artistic show;
  • The miniseries “Elis – Viver é Melhor que Sonhar”, an adaptation of the film “Elis”, by Hugo Prata, competes in the category of best film for TV;
  • Actor Raphael Logam competes in the category of best actor for the series “Impuros”, by Alexandre Fraga;
  • Actress Andrea Beltrão competes in the category of best actress for the series “Hebe”, by Globo;
  • Daniel Rezende’s “Ninguém Tá Olhando” series competes in the category of best comedy;
  • Record’s “Canta Comigo” program competes in the category of best non-script entertainment;
  • The telenovela “Órfãos da Terra”, competes in the category of best telenovela.
