RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Mayor of Rio, Marcelo Crivella, announced on Monday, July 20th, that private school representatives announced their intention to restart classes on a voluntary basis on August 3rd.
The return of the private school system, optional for teachers, employees, and students whose parents so desire, will be under the “strict rules” of the Health Surveillance. The return of municipal public schools, with no date yet set, is still to be debated.
“I had a meeting with private school representatives, who wants to restart voluntarily on August 3rd. In compliance with all the rules of the Health Surveillance. We will still debate the issue of public schools and I will later announce it,” said the Mayor.
