Bolsonaro is critical to isolation as a means to contain the pandemic of the novel coronavirus. In his opinion, the elderly and individuals with pre-existing conditions should remain at home, while youths and adults continue to lead normal lives.

“The president’s message is yes, we will take care of our health but we must not forget that up ahead we have a challenge to continue producing, to feed our sick, to feed the population,” Guedes said in a video released by the Ministry of Economy.

“If we fail to remember that we have to continue resisting in our economic production as well, we will have a phenomenon where everyone has the resources, but the shelves are empty because we allowed the organization of the Brazilian economy to collapse,” he said.
