RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Federal Prosecutor General, Augusto Aras, reported to the PSL deputies who submitted on Monday a petition for pre-trial detention against ex-president Lula, that the matter will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office of São Bernardo do Campo in São Paulo State, where the Lula has a permanent address.
Aras explained to deputies Carla Zambelli and Sanderson that, as Lula no longer enjoys a privileged forum, the matter will be transferred to another area of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Legislators call for Lula’s preventive imprisonment on the grounds that he has incited violence with his speech after leaving prison. The claimants’ appeal is based on the National Security Law.
