Pablo Vittar Supersedes Anitta and Wins MTV EMA Best Artist Award

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Pabllo Vittar celebrated her 25th birthday last Friday, but it seems that the presents keep coming in.

Nominated in the category of best Brazilian artist of the MTV Europe Music Awards, the EMA, the drag queen was announced the winner yesterday morning.

She beat Emicida, Kevin O Chris, Ludmilla and Anitta, winner of the award for the past five editions. Pabllo had previously been nominated for the trophy in 2018 and now it is finally her turn to take him home.

Happy with the victory, the drag queen used social media to celebrate. “I want to thank all the vittarlovers from the bottom of my heart,” she said in reference to her fans.

“Guys, we won the EMA,” she then shouts in a video. “Thank you, people, for everyone who voted, everyone who participated, thank you very much,” repeating in English and Spanish.

Although the MTV EMA ceremony began only at around 6 PM (Brasília time) on Sunday, the artists who win as the best in their countries are announced before the award ceremony. Pabllo walked the red carpet, at 5 PM, and performed the hits from her new album, “111”.

She is the first Brazilian to perform at the EMA.

The victory over Anitta thus breaks her dominance in the award. She and Pabllo allegedly fought soon after the release of the “Sua Cara” partnership, in 2017, and since then they have not got along very well.
