Actor and Comedian Lúcio Mauro Dies in Rio at the Age of 92

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian Actor and comedian Lúcio Mauro died late Saturday night, May 11, at the age of 92, in Rio de Janeiro, reported his son Lúcio Mauro Filho, who is also an actor.

Lúcio Mauro Filho paid tribute to his father by posting a text on a social network. He wrote that his father had a beautiful life, was a pioneer, had a successful career and influenced him.

There still is no information about funeral and burial arrangements for the actor.

In March, Lúcio Mauro turned 92 years old, and his son, Lúcio Mauro Filho, shared a photo to celebrate that date. In the image, Lúcio Mauro appeared with his children, his daughter-in-law, Cíntia Oliveira, and his grandchildren, Liz, Bento and Luiza.

“It was only possible thanks to your strength, as well as the unconditional love that we feel for you. Today we commemorate your 92 years. We commemorate your life and our good fortune for carrying your blood. Happy Birthday, my father! Together forever!” he posted on a social network to mark the occasion.

Lúcio de Barros Barbalho, better known as Lúcio Mauro, was born in Belém in Pará, on March 14, 1927. He debuted on Globo in 1966.

He was a member of the cast of the broadcaster’s principal comedy programs, such as “Chico City”(1973), ” Os Trapalhões” (1989), and “Escolinha do Professor Raimundo” (1990).

Mauro participated in the creation of, directed and acted in dozens of other television comedy programs, highlighted by “Balança Mas Não Cai” (1968), a reinterpretation of the successful National Radio program from the 1950’s.
