The growth of Brazil’s soybean crop has ensured an increase in the global supply of the item for the current harvest.
The World Grains Council released the information on Thursday, 18.
“World soybean production in 2022/23 stands at 369 million tonnes (+4%), with a Brazilian record crop offsetting declines elsewhere,” the council’s latest report said.
The country should harvest around 155 million tonnes of this grain in the current cycle.
BRAZIL SOYBEANS AND THE GLOBAL SUPPLY
Brazil is currently the largest soybean producer on the planet.
Local farmers account for 42% of the entire global harvest. In addition, they are the world’s largest exporters of the sector.
The Center-West Region is the great granary of soybean cultivation.
In this part of Brazil, Mato Grosso performs best in the national soybean harvest.
Mato Grosso farmers are responsible for about 40 million tonnes of the ongoing harvest.
Thus, the local harvest is the third largest on the planet compared to the main producing nations of the globe – surpassing, for example, Argentina.
The state’s soybean production equals 26% of Brazil’s harvest and 10% of the global supply.
