Cuba Leads UN Proposal for Palestinian Safety

Cuba and several other countries presented a resolution to the UN General Assembly, seeking to safeguard Palestinian civilians and halt the Middle East conflict.

Bruno Rodríguez, Cuba’s Foreign Minister, made this known through social media.

The proposal has several key points. Firstly, it calls for an immediate ceasefire. Secondly, it pushes for a fast way to protect Palestinian civilians.

Thirdly, it denounces forced removal of people. Lastly, it supports sending urgent humanitarian aid.

Today, Cuba joins a special UN session focusing on Palestine. The country will voice strong backing for both the Palestinian and Arab cause.

Furthermore, Cuba will urge a halt to the violence while respecting international laws.

Earlier this month, the Palestinian group Hamas initiated a rocket attack from Gaza. This attack led Israel’s Prime Minister to declare a state of war.

Israel quickly responded by mobilizing 300,000 reservists and starting air raids on Gaza. Additionally, they began preparations for a ground attack.

Since then, Israel has been withholding essential supplies from Gaza. However, they recently resumed water supply to southern Gaza.

This area is now densely populated due to fears of a potential invasion.

The UN has provided some shocking numbers. Israel’s evacuation plans could affect over one million people, which is half of Gaza’s population.

Such a move could result in severe human consequences.

Many countries are now stepping in, asking both sides to stop fighting. They are urging Israel and Hamas to sit down and talk for a ceasefire.

The idea of a two-state solution is also gaining more support. Many see it as the only lasting solution for peace in this troubled region.
