Bus Driver Stabs Car Watcher, Then Shoots Three Men in São Paulo

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – A car watcher was stabbed and three other men were shot by a bus driver in Jardim das Oliveiras, in the Itaim Paulista region, east side of São Paulo, on Sunday night, October 27th. The case occurred during a party in a bar. The bus driver was arrested in the act.

According to the State Police, driver Ademilson Santana de Souza got into an argument with a group that was engaged in a fight and was blocking Rua Manoel Lemes da Silva, near Rua Maximiano Corrêa dos Santos, at around 8:30 PM.

After the argument, the driver used a knife to assault the car watcher. The attendees of the funk party reacted and attacked Souza. He then returned to the bus, picked up a gun and fired at the group, shooting three people. He was then disarmed and beaten.

The driver, the car watcher and the three people shot were rushed to the emergency room of the Santa Marcelina Hospital, in Itaim Paulista. Their condition has not been disclosed.

São Paulo Transporte (SPTrans) reported that the driver involved in the occurrence was driving vehicle number 31,956 and was traveling the line 2678-10 Oliveirinha/Terminal Parque Dom Pedro II, towards the city center.

The State Public Safety Secretariat (SSP) of São Paulo advised that the case is being reported in the 50th Police District (Itaim Paulista). The driver is expected to answer for attempted murder.
