RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With higher demand in foreign markets, including China, its main buyer, the result offset the impact of higher costs in the sector.
Export revenues increased 16.4% to US$2.641 billion last year.
In December alone, export volumes grew 7.3% over the same month in 2020, to 89,700 tons. In terms of value, the rise was 1%, to US$191.5 million.
China accounted for about half of Brazil’s exports in the year, as shipments to the Asian country increased 3.9% to 533,700 tons.
“Asia continues to be the main buyer for Brazilian pork and is expected to remain our main partner in 2022. Russia should also once again be a major partner for Brazil in the coming year,” said ABPA’s chairman Ricardo Santin.
