RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The third edition of Jazz na Candelária (Jazz in Candelária) will take place this Saturday, March 5th, at Paiol 08 in Lapa; home to some of Rio’s most notable music venues and the place that best reflects the city’s eclecticism in music. Event organizers Débora Almeida and DJ João Santiago have brought together the Fernando Pereira Quartet and a charming location for a romantic start to an evening in Rio.

Jazz in Candelária started at the end of 2015, following the demand for revitalization of public and historic places in Rio. “We began in the garden of the museum Casa França-Brasil, quite a small and very charming place viewing the Cathedral church” explains Débora Almeida.

Offering a unique view of the Arcos da Lapa (the iconic white Arches of Lapa), Saturday’s event will be held at Paiol 08, a bar attached to the Fundição Progresso in Lapa.

Saturday’s event will see the Fernando Pereira Quartet, known for mixing the rhythmic elements of Brazil and jazz improvisation and DJ João Santiago, who specializes in Brazilian music and is also one of the event organizers.

This will be the third Jazz in Candelária event of the year, with the last event on January 23rd “marked by the heavy rain. “Despite the disaster, we provided all the best we could do at that moment and our eighty guests were, in the end, very pleased!” said Almeida.

Whatever the weather, “[Guests] can expect a whole party organized with love, tenderness, putting the good music above everything else” continues Almeida, “in a place half covered, so we’re no longer target of the summer rain!”
