The event, organized by radio station Record Rio and the city of Rio de Janeiro, will treat the audience to seven hours of music. For those unable to make it out on the Saturday night, the highlights will be broadcast on television channel Rede Record the next day.

The Rio de Janeiro Secretary of Tourism, Antonio Pedro, approved the selection of day’s artists, especially as the choices were voted for by the public from polls. “The lineup this year is the best ever. It is the face of Rio de Janeiro,” he said.

The Rio-born ‘funkeiro’ Naldo Benny, better known for his hit “Vodka ou Água de Coco,” expressed his excitement about performing in the event in local newspapers. “I’ve always wanted to play at major festivals, I participated in the first and now I will be there again this year,” Naldo told O Globo. “I’ve just released a new DVD and I will take this opportunity to show it to the audience of the festival. It will be a big party! We have a greater number of dancers on the stage,” he added.
