First in the city just over a year ago, Green returns for a second show this month thanks in part to the help of fans and Queremos, a Rio based crowdfunded kick starter, that connects musicians, agents, fans and venues.

The show will be part of the South American leg of his ongoing tour in support of the new album. Green will perform in São Paulo on April 26th and 27th before arriving in Rio. Following the Circo Voador show, he will head to Belo Horizonte for a show there on the 30th.

A member of the popular Candian band, Alexisonfire from 2001 to 2012, Green began City and Colour as a solo side project. Moving away from Alexisonfire’s post-hard sounds, Green experimented with more folk-influenced and acoustic songs.

Green would go on to officially release a full-length City and Colour debut album in 2005. Entitled, Sometimes, the album was well received.

He quickly built up a fanbase as he followed with the release of several singles, live recordings, and four additional studio albums: 2008’s Bring Me Your Love, 2011’s Little Hell, 2013’s The Hurry and the Harm ,and If I Should Go Before You, which was released in October of last year.

“I hope that every time I make a record that I’m doing the best work that I’ve done,” Green recently told Rip It Up. “I’m not saying that in terms of record sales or ticket numbers, for me I always want to know that I haven’t written the best song I can write yet, and that when I go out on stage to play I want to try to be better than what I was the night before.”

“To me that’s the reason for living,” Green added, “is to wake up and try to be better than you were the day before, that’s the reason I keep doing it.”

Circo Voador gates will open at 10PM on the 29th. During the show, Green will be accompanied by bassist Jack Lawerence, drummer Doug MacGregor, guitarists Matt Kelly and Dante Schwebel.
