State of Rio de Janeiro Records Country’s Most Expensive Gasoline in November

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Fuel in Brazil is expensive, everyone knows. Recently, Petrobras even demanded that the price of gasoline be readjusted at refineries.

This increase eventually brought the average price of a liter of regular gasoline in Brazil in November to R$4.58 (US$1.15), an increase of 0.59 percent in relation to the average price in October. Converting to US measurements, the price was $4.35 per gallon.

On November 19th, during the dollar’s appreciation against the Brazilian real, Petrobras raised the price of gasoline at refineries by 2.8 percent, after almost two months of unaltered prices. On November 27th, it promoted a new readjustment of about four percent.

With an average per liter of R$4.98, Rio de Janeiro recorded the highest price among the states in the month of November. The lowest prices were registered in the States of Santa Catarina and Amapá (R$4.19).

In October, Rio de Janeiro had been in 2nd place at R$4.94, while Acre recorded R$5.01.
