Brazilian Soccer Player Thalles Dies in an Accident in Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The striker Thalles Lima da Conceição Penha, 24 years, died on Saturday morning, June 22nd, after an accident on Avenida Almirante Pena Boto, in the Monjolos neighborhood, in São Gonçalo, Rio’s Metropolitan Region.

According to information from the Fire Department, the accident occurred after a crash between two motorcycles, which ran over other people. According to witnesses, the player would be returning from a funk party in the Cerâmica community.

He was taken to the Alberto Torres State Hospital but did not survive his injuries. According to witness reports, those involved were not wearing helmets.

Thalles was discovered by Vasco da Gama but was currently on loan to the Ponte Preta.
