Why Do I Wake up Tired After Sleeping for Hours?

Studies show that changing some habits in our daily life may help us wake up feeling more energetic.

According to a video by AsapSCIENCE, one of the key factors for having energy is to practice exercise. Studies point out that moderate physical activity at least three times a week contributes to improving sleep quality, which in turn improves one’s mood in the following morning and day.

In addition, the amount of daily caffeine intake also has a negative impact on rest. Several researches alert that ingesting caffeine – from coffee to black or green tea – up to six hours before going to sleep impairs sleep, and may even cause insomnia. Caffeine is a substance that blocks adenosine, a neurotransmitter that builds up in the brain throughout the day, making us sleepy at night.

It’s not all up to you…

People suffering from mental illnesses, such as anxiety disorders, are associated with fatigue and cause high levels of stress and concern. Depression also impacts on the quality of sleep, sometimes leading to insomnia and other types of sleep disorders.

Physical conditions can also explain the feeling of exhaustion, from anemia, which is characterized by lack of iron in the body, to thyroid disorders and diabetes.
