RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Tuesday afternoon, July 14th, WhatsApp was unstable and went offline for several users. The number of complaints about the app’s instability skyrocketed at around 5 PM.
There was a peak in searches for WhatsApp‘s stability at that time, as shown on the Down Detector website, suggesting that many people were affected.
The failure seems to have affected both WhatsApp Web and the mobile app. Once the web session was terminated, the app could no longer send any messages. On social media, users complained that they were unable to exchange messages with their contacts, taking the term “WhatsApp” to the top of Twitter Trending Topics.
