Hot Nights: Six Things Women Should Never Do Before Sex

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Certain reckless mistakes may significantly change the sexual experience… for the worse. Here are six common pre-sex mistakes you should consider for your next ‘sex session’:

1. Taking antihistamines. These drugs dry out the mucus membranes to relieve nasal congestion. And they can dry out other parts of your body, particularly the vagina, gynecologist Nicole E. Williams tells Prevention magazine.

2. Ingest spicy food. The food you eat may “affect the odor and taste of the vagina,” says Dr. Kathryn Boling. These foods could swell the belly or worse… cause gas.

3. Drink too much. Reaching orgasm can become a rather difficult task if you consume too much alcohol – since alcohol is a depressant.

4. Use the electric toothbrush. “Electric toothbrushes can cause minor gum sores and strong alcohol-enriched elixirs can dry and irritate the mucous membrane, exposing you to open wounds and contracting STIs,” explains dermatologist Tsippora Shainhouse to Prevention.

5. Waxing with a razor. If you don’t give your skin time to regenerate, it can become irritated, with sensitive skin and more susceptible to potential infections such as herpes and the Human Papilloma Virus.

6. Use food in foreplay. Using anything with sugar as a lubricant, whether on purpose or not, can cause a fungal infection, as fungi thrive on sugar, stresses Kathryn Boling.
