With Over 604.000 Doses, Brazil Ranks 16th in Vaccination

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil is ranked 16th country in terms of vaccination against Covid-19. With 604,722 doses administered until 9 AM on Monday, January 25th, the country is ahead of neighboring Argentina in absolute numbers, which has so far administered 292,023 doses.

The figures are taken from Our World in Data website, which collects worldwide figures on cases, deaths, tests and vaccines related to the pandemic.

The United States continues to lead, in absolute numbers, with 20.54 million doses administered. The country also holds the tragic mark of being first in the number of infections and deaths by the novel coronavirus.

China ranks second with 15 million, followed by the United Kingdom (6.82 million) and Israel (3.62 million).

It is worth noting that the number of vaccines may not necessarily coincide with the number of people vaccinated, as there are countries currently administering the second dose, such as the United Kingdom and the United States, for instance.

Regarding the country’s total population, Israel leads the ranking with 41.8% of its population immunized. The country has a population of just over 8.66 million.

Second comes the Arab Emirates, with 25.1%, and the United Kingdom, with 10.1%. These countries have a population of 9,89 million and 67,89 million, respectively.

The United States (6,2%) and Denmark (3,5%) complete the top 5. North America has a population of 331 million and Europe 5.79 million.

Brazil, with 212.56 million people, has vaccinated only 0.3% since January 17th.

Proportionally, Argentina has done more than Brazil by immunizing 0.7% of its 45.2 million population. However, the Argentinean campaign began on December 29th, 2020.
