RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil was again the country that confirmed the most deaths by Covid-19 on Tuesday, June 9th, as well as the nation that recorded the most cases of the disease in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health’s calculations.
According to the portfolio, there were 32,091 more cases and 1,272 deaths identified in the period. The data were updated at 6:45 PM on the Ministry of Health’s website (covid.saude.gov.br) with the total numbers of the disease in Brazil (739,503 infections and 38,406 deaths), in compliance with the ruling by Supreme Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes that determined the disclosure of accumulated cases and deaths since the start of the pandemic.
The data released by the Ministry of Health are in line with those released on the National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS) website, which can be found at conass.org.br/painelconasscovid19. The data collected by the partnership between mainstream media Estadão, Folha de S. Paulo, O Globo, G1, Extra and UOL, are closed at 8 PM.
Using the Ministry of Health data, Brazil is very close to surpassing the United Kingdom and becoming the second ranking country in the number of deaths caused by Covid-19. The British government reported yesterday that 286 people died from the disease, totaling 40,883 deaths. The number of infections in the country has increased by 1,387, bringing the total to 289,140. Brazil is now the country with the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases.
The United States, the country that leads the total rankings of cases and deaths from the coronavirus, was yesterday the second-ranked country in terms of new deaths and new cases of Covid-19. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), there were 550 more deaths and 17,598 additional Covid-19 infections in the USA. In total, the coronavirus has killed 110,925 people in the United States and infected 1,956,421.
