RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the Brazilian Navy, the trawler Mestre Zeus and the speedboat Biel e Gui collided while in the Itacuruçá Channel, in the municipality of Mangaratiba.
According to a note published by the agency, as soon as the accident was reported, the Itacuruçá Port Authority sent a search and rescue team to the site.
The most seriously injured victims were referred to the Mangaratiba Municipal Hospital. The statement does not detail, however, the number of people in this condition.
The Navy also reported that it will open an administrative inquiry to investigate the causes and responsibilities for the accident.
