Under the pressure of protests demanding an early election, the Peruvian Parliament approved a bill that will allow general elections to be held in April 2024.
In the midst of the political crisis Peru is going through after the dismissal of former president Pedro Castillo, the legislative power makes a decision that satisfies one of the main demands of the demonstrations taking place in the country since last Dec. 7.
The reversal of the Congress occurs after the constant pressure of all the social groups mobilized in the country, when the number of victims of the state repression of the protests has already reached 26.
